Finally the bike packing season has started. First route we chose was a start from home. The northern Black Forrest. We had reserved the weekend from 28 to 30th of May for our first overnighter. I had the approval from my government – aka my wife 🙂 And we were lucky enough the weather turned out just fine after a grey and rainy week. I took the bike to work (in Karlsruhe) during lunch break and held my last few meetings at the office. Happy that no-one bothers me participating meetings in full bike dress 😀 That way – once the last one was finished – we could immediately head out for our tour. Matthias picked me up at work and off we went.
Expecting a cold night – and remembering our last overnighter in autumn (!!) – we both had heavily packed. I didn’t weigh mine but it felt the same as Matthias’ bike. He had weighed his at 20+ kg. The temperature did go to lows of around 2 -3° C that night. I sure was happy to have all the extra clothes and blanket with me.
